Scaling locally led adaptation in the Global South: Lessons from the Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator
3 February 2026 | 9:30-11:00 CET (GMT+1) and 15:00-16:30 CET (GMT+1) | online
As climate impacts accelerate, the need to scale effective adaptation solutions has never been more urgent
Across the Global South, grassroots organisations are leading the way by developing, piloting and scaling community-driven solutions - reaching millions of people while strengthening livelihoods, ecosystems and local resilience. Mobilizing flexible finance to translate these innovations into lasting impact is essential.
The Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (2020–2025) supported governments, NGOs, community groups, entrepreneurs and young innovators to develop and advance locally led solutions through competitive grants of up to US$250,000.
To explore how these solutions can be scaled in practice, lessons from the AFCIA program will be shared and discussed in this webinar. This webinar also marks the launch of the AFCIA Impact Reports, and will highlight key findings from 69 supported initiatives:
- What enables locally led adaptation to succeed and scale
- How innovation can be translated into lasting impact
- How AFCIA evidence is informing future adaptation finance and programming
Presentations by several organisations supported under the programme, including:
- South Asian Forum for Environment (SAFE), India;
- ABALOBI, South Africa;
- I-SEEEDS Youth, Jamaica;
- World Neighbors, Kenya
- Practica, Mozambique
- as well as the Governments of the Maldives and St. Kitts and Nevis
